President of APMF 2010-2013:

Professor Takeshi Aso (Japan)

Dr. Takeshi ASO, MD, PhD is a gynecologist, Professor Emeritus, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, and previous Professor and Chairman of Department of Comprehensive Reproductive Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynecology), Graduate School, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, JAPAN.

Dr. Aso graduated from Kyoto University, School of Medicine and studied basic and clinical medicine in the postdoctoral course of Kyoto University, School Medicine. He learned at Swedish Medical Research Council, Reproductive Endocrinology Research Unit, Karolinska Institutes as a research fellow and National Institutes of Health, USA as a visiting fellow. He had the position of Assistant Professor at Fukui Medical School before becoming Professor and Chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine Tokyo Medical and Dental University.

His major academic contributions were/are; President of the Japan Menopause Society (1995-2005), Auditor of the Japan Menopause Society (2005- ), Member of Executive Committee of Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2003-2005), Member of Executive Committee (Secretary General) of the International Menopause Society (1996- 2002), President of the 9th International Menopause Society World Congress on Menopause (Yokohama, Japan, 1999), Officer and Council Member of Asian-Pacific Menopause Federation (1999- ), and President-Elect Asian-Pacific Menopause Federation (2007-2010). He is a member of the editorial board of Menopause, the journal of the North American Menopause Society (2010- ).

2011 Council Meeting

The most recent meeting of the Council was held in Bangkok on November 26, 2011. All but one of the member countries was present and a lot of useful discussion arose. Those interested can view the draft minutes of the meeting here.

APMF President 2010-2013

Handover of the Presidency to Professor Takeshi Aso took place on September 28, 2010 during the Fourth Scientific Meeting of the APMF.

APMF Scientific Meeting 2013

The Fifth Scientific Meeting of the APMF will be held from 17-19 October, 2013 in Tokyo, Japan. Details to follow.

APMF Scientific Meeting 2016

APMF are pleased to announce that the bidding for the 2016 Scientific Meeting was won by Singapore. Details of the dates of this meeting will be announced later. Council member Dr Chua Yang from Singapore is the new President Elect.

Endocrine Society Statament on Postmenopausal Hormone Therapy

In July 2010, the Endocrine Society released a Statement on Postmenopausal Hormone Therapy. population. Their statements are developed by a multidisciplinary Task Force of experts with representation from the various core committees within The Endocrine Society.
